I’ve been testing 4 different energy monitors, The ENVI by powercost, the TED 5000 by energy inc, the powercost monitor by Blue Line Innovations and the MTP 3000. The ENVI is definitely the more affordable one of all of them. Did you test it out?

WE have been using the ENVI for about 2-3 months. It is a quick reference for the current energy consumptions.
It was easy to install and set up and generates lots of comments from house guest.
We are working on applications for the data so it can be a better strategy and assesment tool.
